Manchester United youngster makes bold Chelsea prediction about Hull City ace

Di'Shon Bernard has backed Nathan Baxter to go and become Chelsea number one if he's given a chance to impress at Stamford Bridge this summer. The 23-year-old goalkeeper has spent the season on loan at Championship club Hull City and impressed so much the Tigers are keen to strike a deal with the Premier League club this summer for his permanent transfer.

Baxter remains relaxed about what the future holds beyond the end of this season, but hasn't ruled out a permanent move to the MKM Stadium, if Chelsea decide to sanction his move.

Prior to Saturday's 5-0 hammering at Bristol City, Baxter's impressive stats this season were backed up by the fact he'd kept seven clean sheets in his 14 Championship games in a side that has spent the entire Championship campaign at the bottom end of the table, and it's that level of form which Bernard believes gives his Tigers teammate the chance of making the grade at the Bridge.

"He's someone that will continuously talk to you, even before the game has started," Bernard told The League of 72. "He'll say 'you're playing against this winger or this striker, keep him on this side or show him on that side and he's always on the front foot. He's a good voice behind you and that's what you need.

"His shot-stopping, some of the saves he's pulled off in games has helped us. He's been tremendous. I think both keepers - when Matty has been in and Nathan has been in, they all have their strengths and their weaknesses. Whoever plays has done a really good job."

The modern goalkeeper needs to be as good with his feet as he is with his hands, and Bernard admits when Baxter comes to play outfield in training, he looks the part. "He's actually really good. He doesn't look like a goalkeeper," Bernard
