Hull City meet Manchester United over future of on-loan defender

Hull City head coach Shota Arveladze has confirmed Di'Shon Bernard, Nathan Baxter, Marcus Forss and Liam Walsh will all return to their parent clubs now the Championship season has come to an end.

City drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest at the MKM Stadium on Saturday afternoon to round off their campaign, but attention now turns to the future of those players either out of contract or heading back to their parent clubs.

One of those is Di'Shon Bernard who will return to Manchester United after spending the campaign on loan at City, and though it's unlikely he will return, Arveladze has confirmed he was meeting with the Premier League side to discuss the development of Bernard, who was left out of Saturday's final day squad.

Arveladze by his own admission is expected a busy summer in the transfer market at City, with eight players out of contract and a glut of loan players moving on, and he says discussions will continue about those he wants to retain for next season. Barring any late dramas, Allahyar's move from Fenerbahce will be ratified in the coming weeks, but for the remaining four, their futures remain up in the air.

The City head coach planned to meet with Manchester United over the weekend to discuss the future of Bernard, who has been a bit-part player since Arveladze came to the club in January with his last start coming in the defeat to Barnsley in late February.

City's interest in Bernard depends on potential other options in the centre of defence, but the situation with Nathan Baxter is a little clearer when it comes to the club's desire to strike a permanent deal with Chelsea for the 23-year-old goalkeeper.
