Manchester United will not panic as fresh Bryan Mbeumo update emerges

The thirst for transfer news is intense during the summer transfer window.

Fans are desperate for minute-by-minute updates and Manchester United supporters want to know the latest on Bryan Mbeumo, who is keen on a move to Old Trafford this summer.

Last week, United submitted an opening offer of £45million with a further £10million in add-ons, but it fell short of Brentford’s valuation.

Some fans have become restless because they wanted an update before the first summer transfer window deadline, which is 7pm on Tuesday due to the Club World Cup.

The summer window will close briefly before reopening again on June 16 and confirmation of a breakthrough for Mbeumo could arrive when it reopens. No progress is expected by close of play on Tuesday, despite a handful of 'in-the-know' accounts on X prematurely speculating that a second bid for Mbeumo had been made.

The window is closing for six days to help the clubs that are competing in the Club World Cup, and talks will continue between the two clubs in that period.

The player has indicated he prefers a move to Manchester and it's now down to United to negotiate a transfer fee with Brentford. The London club are in a relatively healthy financial position and have the option of another year in Mbeumo's contract, so they have bargaining power in discussions.

Mbeumo will not be cheap, but there is a willingness on his behalf to leave and Brentford will not stand in his way should a fair transfer package be submitted by United.

Tottenham closing in on the appointment of Thomas Frank could potentially complicate matters, as Frank has overseen Mbeumo's rise in England and the pair have a strong relationship.
