Bryan Mbeumo transfer will help Manchester United deliver their new blueprint

You can probably count on one hand the amount of times Manchester United have produced a performance that has left you on the edge of your seat in the last few years.

United were often renowned as the most entertaining and exciting team to watch during their heyday under Sir Alex Ferguson, but those memories have become more and more distant.

The Reds were so poor last season that they limped their way to a 15th-placed finish in the Premier League. Had the three relegated clubs been any better, United might not have been so lucky.

Under both Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim, United were rarely exciting to watch. Their performances were often slow, laboured and uninspiring.

The challenge for Amorim, with the bonus of a full pre-season to come, is to turn United into an entertaining and vibrant team to watch again. Every team, regardless of what level they play at, aspire to be pleasing on-the-eye, but it is rarely that straightforward.

United's inability to be vibrant and energetic in recent years has often stemmed from a lack of energy and athleticism in the team. However, they are in the process of reinstating those particular qualities this summer.

Matheus Cunha, a Brazilian international, has arrived from Wolves for £62.5million and Bryan Mbeumo is very close to completing a move from Brentford for a fee in excess of £60m.

The duo were among the best players in the Premier League last season, scoring 35 goals between them. They also chalked up 13 assists, meaning they had a direct hand in 48 goals.

Cunha, 26, completed his move to Old Trafford earlier this month and is expected to occupy the left-sided No.10 position in Amorim's 3-4-2-1 system. Mbeumo is highly likely to be deployed as the right-sided No.10.
