Manchester United are back in U23s action on Friday night when they host Derby County in Premier League 2, with kick-off at 7pm from Leigh Sports Village.

United head into the match in sixth place in the top division of youth football, while visitors Derby sit at the bottom of the league with only four wins all season. The Reds could climb up to fourth in the table if they avoid defeat in the match.

It could be a quick turnaround for some of United's youngest stars after Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and Daniel Gore shone for the U18s in their FA Youth Cup victory against Leicester on Thursday night.

Neil Wood could name a strong side for the match against Derby with Hannibal, Shola Shoretire, Charlie Savage and Will Fish amongst those players who could start on Friday night.

Manchester United have kept their dreams of winning the FA Youth Cup alive after Alejandro Garnacho's brace saw them come from behind to beat Leicester 2-1 in the quarter-finals.

United are the most successful side in the history of the FA Youth Cup, with 10 triumphs in total, though they haven't won it since defeating Sheffield United in the final back in 2011.

Current U18s manager Travis Binnion was Sheffield United's assistant that night, 11 years later, took a step closer towards finally getting his hands on the trophy — even if that isn't the ultimate end goal.
