Manchester United transfer targets in limbo over manager wait

Some of Manchester United's transfer targets are unsure if the club will advance with their interest amid uncertainty over manager Erik ten Hag's future.

United have prioritised three significant signings - a centre back, a midfielder and a forward - with any other incomings funded by planned outgoings.

Representatives of some targets are in limbo as United continue to mull over whether to continue with Ten Hag in charge.

It is understood United have delayed advancing discussions with certain players while the managerial situations at other clubs are also having a bearing.

Bayern Munich and Barcelona have hired new managers over the past week, there are vacancies at AC Milan and Juventus and Chelsea are poised to announce the arrival of Enzo Maresca.

United are conducting a review of their season, which ended in FA Cup glory six days ago, and club sources said early this week a decision on Ten Hag's position would not be imminent.

Ten Hag is out of contract next year and United are considering keeping the Dutchman for the start of next season. Kieran McKenna, who was interested in a return to United, decided to stay at Ipswich Town on Monday after agreeing a substantial four-year contract that was announced on Thursday.

Chelsea swiftly sacked Mauricio Pochettino two days after the final day of the Premier League season and turned their attention to Leicester City coach Maresca after discovering McKenna favoured a move to United if he was to leave Ipswich.
