Sky News are reporting this afternoon that Ineos billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is still the leading candidate to buy Manchester United - despite an inconclusive board meeting last week.

It's claimed that United directors met on Thursday to discuss the ongoing saga, with the meeting 'controlled by members of the Glazer family' - but also involving several independent directors.

Neither Ineos Sports or fellow candidate - Qatari businessman Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani - have entered into exclusive negotiations
