Manchester United transfer news LIVE Pogba and Ronaldo latest plus reaction to Norwich victory

Manchester United have blown fresh life into their top-four hopes with a 3-2 victory over Norwich City on Saturday.

Though United made life much harder than it needed to be after throwing away a two-goal advantage and allowing the rock-bottom Canaries to draw level, Cristiano Ronaldo completed his hat-trick late on to secure a massive win.

United's top-four rivals Tottenham and Arsenal both lost yesterday, to Brighton and Southampton, respectively, which has seen United jump up to fifth place and move to within three points of the final Champions League spot.

It wasn't a completely cheery afternoon, however, as the match began with plenty of empty seats in the stadium as thousands of fans didn't enter the ground until the 17th minute in protest against the Glazer family's ownership, while anti-Glazer chants continued throughout the match.

Paul Pogba also came in for boos and ridicule from a section of the Old Trafford crowd after being substituted.

Ralf Rangnick defended Paul Pogba after he was jeered by some Manchester United fans in their weekend win over Norwich at Old Trafford. A hat-trick from Cristiano Ronaldo saved the day for United after Norwich had fought back from two goals down to level the match in the second half.

In the absence of Fred and Scott McTominay, Pogba was deployed in a deeper midfield role and impressed the interim manager with the way in which he adapted to the different role.

However, not all fans agreed, and some of them voiced their frustration at the French midfielder when he was replaced in the second-half. A number of supporters chanted 'f*** off Pogba' as he was substituted, while he was also jeered by a section of the crowd at full-time
