Manchester United transfer news LIVE Ronaldo and Mata latest plus reaction to Brentford victory

Manchester United ended their season at Old Trafford on a rare happy note as they defeated Brentford 3-0 on Monday.

A quirk of the fixture list means United have now played their final home match of the campaign, even though they still have two more away trips to go, but they saw it out in style in one of their best displays under Ralf Rangnick.

The inclusion of the brilliant Juan Mata in the starting XI certainly helped that but it was Bruno Fernandes who thumped home the opener following some great work by Anthony Elanga.

Cristiano Ronaldo made it two after overcoming the disappointment of seeing an early goal ruled out for off-side by firing home a penalty in the second half. Raphael Varane rounded out the scoring with a powerful header to grab his first goal for the club.

However, there was some bad news after the match as Rangnick revealed it's unlikely that Jadon Sancho will play again this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo made it clear that he isn't thinking of hanging his boots up any time soon after yet another excellent display for Manchester United on Monday.

United managed to create a positive end to a dreary campaign as they defeated Brentford 3-0 in their final match at Old Trafford. It was one of United's best attacking displays of the entire season and Ronaldo was, of course, at the heart of it.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is in incredible form at present and notched his sixth goal in just four games against the Bees as he fired home from the penalty spot to double United's lead in the second half. Ronaldo had been furious after he saw a goal chalked off for off-side in the opening 45 minutes but a smile was soon back on his face.
