Some of Manchester United's players were pictured returning to Carrington on Monday and they were joined by Mason Mount as he prepared to begin his medical.

The 24-year-old looks set to be United's first signing of the summer after protracted negotiations eventually led to United and Chelsea agreeing on a deal worth up to £60million. Erik ten Hag will now be keen to recruit a goalkeeper and a striker as quickly as possible.

With Dean Henderson expected to leave Old Trafford this summer and David de Gea having played his final game for the club unless a new contract is signed, the Reds are reportedly set to test Inter Milan's resolve with a bid for goalkeeper Andre Onana. However, reports claim the two sides are still some way apart in their valuations of the Cameroon international.

Further forward, the Reds remain in contact with Atalanta over a potential deal for Rasmus Hojlund. But like with Onana, the two clubs are said to be some way off reaching a compromise over a fee.

United are preparing to test the waters with a €40m bid for Andre Onana, according to Sky Italy, although they remain some way short of the Italian side's €60m valuation.

Onana has emerged as a hot target for Erik ten Hag as he looks to address the goalkeeping crisis at United. The pair were together at Ajax before both leaving last summer.

The report adds that a €50m agreement is possible although it will take a significant move from United who are trying to avoid overpaying this summer.

Mason Mount completed his medical on Monday evening and will be announced as a United player imminently, according to reports.
