Manchester United transfer news live Jadon Sancho latest as Sir Jim Ratcliffe to 'attend' fixture

Following Monday night's FA Cup third round triumph over Wigan Athletic, Manchester United will be hoping to get back on track in the Premier League when they face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.

United, who beat the Latics 2-0 at the DW Stadium, were beaten 2-1 by Nottingham Forest in their last league outing a little over a week ago. As a result of that defeat and results elsewhere, Erik ten Hag's side are currently eighth in the standings.

To stand any chance of sealing a top-four finish this term, United are going to have string together a positive run of results between now and the end of the campaign, something they have struggled to do thus far. United have developed a habit of taking one step forward and then two steps back this season.

Sunday's clash with Spurs at Old Trafford represents a key fixture in United's season at this juncture, as a win would move them to within five points of the Londoners in the standings. A defeat, however, would leave them 11 points behind them.

Elsewhere, Jadon Sancho's impending loan move to Borussia Dortmund is understood to be edging closer. Both clubs are believed to be discussing the final terms of the loan agreement.

United have been linked with attaining an interest in Bologna attacker Joshua Zirkzee, who has eight goals in 22 matches this season.

His agent has come out in recent weeks to bat against the idea of an exit for his client this month, but Il Resto de Carlino (as per Tutto Bologna Web) says United remain long-term watchers of the 22-year-old.

Erik ten Hag opt to make a dive for Zirkzee in the summer amid a rumoured €40m (£34m) release clause.
