Manchester United transfer news LIVE Harry Kane latest plus reaction to Tottenham vs Man Utd

Manchester United threw away a two-goal lead to draw with Tottenham on Thursday.

Everything seemed to be going so well as United were cruising to a comfortable win and going nine points clear in the race for a Champions League place.

Erik ten Hag's side raced into an early lead when Jadon Sancho found the bottom corner with a fine finish after just seven minutes. United dominated the first half and deservedly doubled their lead as Marcus Rashford fired home.

However, United lost all control of the match in the second half and allowed Spurs back in. Pedro Porro pulled one back and then United missed the chance to restore the two-goal advantage as Bruno Fernandes hit the crossbar from close range.

Son Heung-min turned in Harry Kane's great pass for the equaliser and Spurs then missed a few great chances to win the match as United held on. Next up is the in-form Aston Villa at the weekend.

Too often, though, United's mentality jars with what their supporters expect. Twice this month, United have let a 2-0 lead slip to draw 2-2.
