Manchester United takeover news LIVE Sheikh Jassim 'prepares Man Utd documents'

Manchester United's takeover process continues to rumble on as we edge ever closer to the start of pre-season.

The Glazers put the club up for sale in November 2022 but their updates on the future of United have been few and far between. What we do know is two candidates are interested in purchasing the club - Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Sheikh Jassim has moved into the lead according to reports in recent weeks. His offer consists of purchasing 100 per cent of United meaning the current owners would depart the club.

The Qatari banker's team has reportedly started readying the relevant paperwork so as to make the eventual purchase of the club quicker when the time comes. As for Ratcliffe's bid, some reports have suggested it is 'dead in the water' but without official confirmation on exclusivity rights, the INEOS head cannot be ruled out.

Manchester United supporters have been told they were sold a 'red herring' when it was suggested the takeover could be completed quickly, according to a sports finance expert.
