Manchester United takeover news LIVE Saga reaches new landmark as 'advanced talks' remain ongoing

Today marks exactly seven months to the day since the Glazers confirmed they had put Manchester United up for sale.

Issuing a statement on Tuesday, November 22, the American family announced that they had entered a process that would "explore strategic alternatives for the club" and benefit the Reds' future. Seven months on, the saga is still no closer to reaching its conclusion, despite the best efforts of interested parties.

British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani have established themselves as the frontrunners, though they have each submitted very different proposals. Ratcliffe wants to secure a majority share in the club while Sheikh Jassim wants to secure full control and purchase 100 per cent of it from the Glazers.

Despite the silence coming out of United proving deafening, talks are believed to be still ongoing between all interested parties. However, the amount of time at which the Glazers are taking to make a decision is threatening to damage manager Erik ten Hag's transfer plans.
