Manchester United takeover news LIVE as Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe sent transfer budget warning

There has still been no conclusion to the Manchester United takeover saga.

It was back in November of last year when the Glazer family announced they would be exploring the possibility of selling the football club. Since then, there have been five rounds of bidding but no update from United's current owners to say that the sale has been finalised. Supporters are desperate for some clarity and communication, with the new Premier League season starting next month.

Wealthy businessmen Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani remain the two leading candidates to take over. The latter - a Qatari billionaire - wants to buy the whole of the club and has vowed to wipe out United's debt. Meanwhile, Ratcliffe's bid may see the Glazer family remain at Old Trafford, given the fact he intends to purchase a majority stake.

The takeover is an unwanted grey cloud over a vital transfer window for manager Erik ten Hag - who has already signed Mason Mount from Chelsea and is looking to bring in more fresh faces.
