Manchester United takeover latest as Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe 'frustrated by Glazers'

It is now more than eight months since the beginning of Manchester United takeover saga and it shows no sign of coming to an end any time soon.

The Glazer family announced last November the start of a process to "explore strategic alternatives" in terms of the ownership of the Old Trafford club. It raised the prospect of the club being sold to fresh owners.

Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe remain in the frame to take over, although the Glazers staying with fresh investment has also not been ruled out. Both current approaches are different in their nature.

Sheikh Jassim's proposal would see a complete takeover of United, with all of the club's debt wiped out. Sir Jim Ratcliffe's bid outlines owning a majority stake in the club, meaning the Glazers would remain but in a minority role and no longer in overall control of the Reds.

Here's the latest round-up of news surrounding the takeover as it continues to rumble on.

American billionaire Stephen Pagliuca has suggested he is seeking to invest in a Premier League side - potentially having an impact on the ongoing takeover process at United.

Pagliuca co-owns the NBA franchise Boston Celtics and Serie A's Atalanta, whom United are coincidentally seeking to purchase Rasmus Hojland from. He has hinted that his private investment firm, Bain Capital, are "assessing opportunites" in the top flight, which raises questions if he could come into the mix in terms of United.
