Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund training at Carrington amid injury comeback

Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund trained away from the main group at the club's Carrington training base on Wednesday morning as he continues to recover from a recent injury.

The Danish international, 20, finalised his move to Old Trafford last weekend, joining United on a five-year deal from Italian club Atalanta. United swooped for the youngster after agreeing a deal with the Serie A outfit worth up to £72million.

Hojlund, who scored 10 goals for Atalanta last season, was unveiled as United's third signing of the summer on Saturday and was introduced to the Old Trafford crowd ahead of the 3-1 win over RC Lens. However, sources confirmed that he had arrived at the club still recovering from an injury he sustained in pre-season.

He is expected to miss the start of the campaign and United have indicated that they will not rush his recovery, meaning it remains unclear when he could make his debut. United have four Premier League fixtures before the first international break of the season in September.

Despite that uncertainty, the striker was pictured doing some ball work on the grass at Carrington on Wednesday, working away from his new teammates.

Sources close to the club say the injury is not a long-term issue and that Hojlund is expected to be out for a few weeks. His injury is being managed by an individual training programme and the youngster is said to be recovering well.
