Manchester United star finally set to leave after his departure was blocked last summer
Victor Lindelof is the great survivor at Manchester United but his time at the club is ending.
Lindelof arrived at Old Trafford from Benfica in 2017 and only Luke Shaw has been in the squad longer than the Swedish international, who is finally out of contract at United this summer.
United were actively trying to sell Lindelof in the last summer transfer window. It was the last chance to obtain a reasonable fee for Lindelof, but he suffered an injury during pre-season that scuppered plans for his exit and, remarkbly, he began his eighth season with United.
Lindelof was signed by Jose Mourinho and has played under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Michael Carrick, Ralf Rangnick, Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim, so he's played under six United coaches.
Amorim will be the last United coach that Lindelof will play under because he is set to leave upon the expiry of his contract in June, which means he will join a new club on a free transfer.
Lindelof recently returned to full training after recovering from an injury that he picked up in December's defeat to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup, although United won't be sweating on his fitness when the summer window is around the corner because he will leave, regardless of his condition.
It felt typical that Lindelof picked up a problem last summer when United were looking to offload him, and he wouldn't have minded picking up another 12 months of wages at United.
Lindelof has made just nine appearances this season and only four of those were starts. He has played just 340 minutes on a pitch and he's become a peripheral member of the squad.
His final season in Manchester has been so low-key that some supporters will forget he still plays for United, but the 'great survivor' might have a role to
