Manchester United show Martin Zubimendi interest with four midfielders being monitored for summer transfer

Manchester United are looking at Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi as they continue to consider their options in midfield during the summer transfer window.

United are looking at bringing in a holding midfielder and have held talks over Manuel Ugarte at Paris Saint-Germain, with the Uruguayan keen on making the switch to Old Trafford, but there is also an interest in Zubimendi. The 25-year-old came on at half-time for Rodri in the Euro 2024 final at the weekend to win his 10th cap for Spain.

Zubimendi has also been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer but United are monitoring defensive midfielders, with a return for Sofyan Amrabat yet to be ruled out, although at this stage a deal for Ugarte seems to be the most advanced.

Amrabat spent last season on loan at Old Trafford and United have the option to buy him for £21.4m. A decision on whether to look to bring the 27-year-old back to the club has yet to be made and even if that clause expires, there is belief a deal can be done with Fiorentina, with the player expected to depart the club this summer.

Another midfielder United have considered is Adrien Rabiot, with the 29-year-old a free agent after his contract at Juventus expired.

United are expecting one more midfielder to depart the club this summer, but bringing a new player in isn't entirely dependent on whether Casemiro leaves. The Brazilian is one of the top earners at Old Trafford and United are willing to sell him if the right offer arrives. There has been tentative interest this summer but no firm proposal has arrived so far.

Bids have been rejected for Scott
