Manchester United risk repeating Sevilla mistake against Nottingham Forest

Manchester United must bounce back from disappointingly drawing against Sevilla by becoming just the fifth team to beat Nottingham Forest at home in the Premier League this season.

Despite their presence in the relegation zone, United's upcoming opponents have shocked several sides at the City Ground since their promotion to the Premier League, including the side calling the east of Manchester home. City could only draw 1-1 in the East Midlands earlier this year after conceding a late Chris Wood equaliser while cruising to what appeared to be a comfortable victory.

Chelsea also suffered a similar fate on New Year's Day when Serge Aurier's second-half strike followed an early Raheem Sterling opener. Those results came after Liverpool offered an early warning sign after being beaten by a lone Taiwo Awoniyi goal before the World Cup break.

Forest, then, have made something of a habit this season of claiming late scalps against their opponents, a fate suffered by United in their Europa League clash with Sevilla on Thursday night. Erik ten Hag must learn from these lessons if United are to keep their Champions League qualification chase on course.

Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, who sandwich them in the table, are two of the quartet of teams to win away against Forest head coach Steve Cooper's side - Bournemouth and Fulham being the others. Last month, Newcastle left it late, prevailing after an Alexander Isak penalty deep into added time during a controversial Friday night match.

For Spurs, it was more straightforward, with a Harry Kane goal in either half ensuring all three points back in late August, despite later being undone at the same venue
