Manchester United refuse to rule out selling Scott McTominay amid West Ham interest

West Ham United are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay but would have to offer at least £40million.

McTominay, 26, started only 16 times for United last season and his standing in the midfield is under mounting pressure from the 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo, who excelled again in his third consecutive start in pre-season against Arsenal.

United had not provisionally planned to sell McTominay as Fred was identified as the midfielder to make way for new signing Mason Mount while manager Erik ten Hag values McTominay’s versatility and homegrown status.

McTominay is under contract at United until 2025 and he is a regular for the Scotland national side who are top of their European Championship qualifying group - above Spain and Norway.
