Manchester United Under-21s secure dominant pre-season win as Hannibal Mejbri starts

Manchester United Under-21s stepped up their pre-season preparations with a comfortable 4-0 win over Chester at the Deva Stadium on Monday evening.

The United youngsters made light work of the National League North side, securing a routine win thanks to goals from Charlie McNeill (2), Shola Shoretire and Noam Emeran. McNeill scored either side of half-time, whereas Shoretire found the net in the first half and Emeran netted after the break.

Hannibal Mejbri started the contest having stepped off the bench at half-time during United's 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao in Dublin on Sunday. Teden Mengi also started.

Shoretire opened the scoring after 20 minutes, turning the ball home after good work out wide by Mateo Mejia, before McNeill netted his first of the contest 15 minutes later. The striker found the net after good work by Spaniard Marc Jurado.

McNeill, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Newport County, netted his second and United's third of the evening shortly before the hour mark. The 19-year-old was on hand to tap the ball home from close range after more good work out wide from Mejia.

Emeran, who scored United's opening goal of pre-season against Leeds United in Oslo last month, was on hand to complete the scoring, netting the Reds' fourth of the night, finishing off a swift counter-attacking move.

The transfer window is in full swing and United have got their hands on three players well in advance of the September 1 deadline, with Rasmus Hojlund joining Mason
