Manchester United receiving Mason Greenwood training data

Manchester United are receiving data from Mason Greenwood's training sessions as they prepare to clarify his future.

Greenwood, 21, has been pictured and filmed training in public parks, with the sessions overseen by a former United junior coach who has conducted individual sessions with United youngsters Kobbie Mainoo and Dan Gore.

United are due to communicate their decision on Greenwood's future after a six-month investigation before the start of the season. United's first fixture is against Wolves on Monday.

Greater Manchester Police announced on February 2 that Greenwood no longer faced criminal proceedings. Greenwood had been charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault.

The Crown Prosecution Service dropped all charges against Greenwood and United have conducted their own inquiries as they “determine the next steps”.

Erik ten Hag is understood to be reluctant to sell Greenwood and United are considering the possibility of a loan for him.

Greenwood is contracted to United until 2025, with the option of an additional year, and he last played for the club in the 1-0 win against West Ham on January 22, 2022.

The forward has not returned to United’s Carrington training complex since the charges were dropped.

Greenwood has played 129 times for United and scored 35 goals. He made his England debut against Iceland in September 2020.
