'Heavy heart' - Rachel Riley responds to Manchester United's Mason Greenwood decision
Famous Manchester United fan Rachel Riley has hit out at the club's handling of the Mason Greenwood situation and suggested chief executive Richard Arnold should consider his position.
The Countdown co-presenter had threatened to stop supporting United should Greenwood be reintegrated into United's squad prior to the club announcing its decision on Monday. In that announcement, the club said the forward is to leave the club following the conclusion of their six-and-a-half month investigation.
In October 2022, Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault. He always denied all allegations and Greater Manchester Police announced on February 2 charges had been dropped.

Greenwood maintained his innocence and said in a statement released via United on Monday that he "did not do the things I was accused of". Now, speaking on The News Agents podcast, Riley suggested United chief executive Richard Arnold should consider his position over his handling of the situation.
She said: "Yes I do [think Arnold should consider his position]. I say this with such a heavy heart. As a fan I grew up – these players are heroes for little kids, they’re your heroes.
"I did Manchester United as my subject on Mastermind, I’ve been lucky enough for work to go to the club to do charity events, to meet the players, to meet the manager, to go to the director’s box for matches, it’s like my ultimate dream and I would love more than anything else in the world to give
