Manchester United 'ready to make bid' for £50m Brentford star and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are among three Premier League teams weighing up a bid for Brentford's Aaron Hickey, according to reports.

Erik ten Hag has identified the full-back positions as a key area to strengthen next summer, with both sides open for improvement. Neither Aaron Wan-Bissaka nor Diogo Dalot have established themselves as undisputed first-choice at right-back, while Tyrell Malacia has struggled to fill Luke Shaw's boots when called upon.

Hickey impressed in his first season with Thomas Frank's side after joining from Bologna last summer, and The Mirror reports that United are among a trio of English sides eyeing a potential move. It is claimed United are 'ready to make a bid' for the defender, with Arsenal and Liverpool also keen on the 21-year-old, while Bayern Munich hold an interest across in Germany.

The Scotland international played 26 times in the Premier League and already has six appearances under his belt this campaign. Most of his matches have come at right-back but he is equally comfortable on either side and looks set to play on the left, with Rico Henry ruled out for the season.

The report adds Hickey would likely be available if a bid of around £50million were to be made. Elsewhere, Spanish outlet Fichajes reports that Villareal are the latest side to be linked with a move for Donny van de Beek.

The 26-year-old was available for transfer all summer but a move never materialised, despite reported interest across Europe. Real Sociedad looked the most likely destination but no agreement was found on a loan proposal.
