Manchester United 'keeping tabs' on Premier League defender and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are 'keeping tabs' on Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi ahead of next summer's transfer window.

That is according to a report by The South London Press, which claims the Reds, who will resume their Premier League campaign with a trip to Sheffield United in just over a week's time, are 'keen' on the defender. United have already started drawing up plans for the 2024 summer window and a centre-back is understood to feature high up on their wish list.

United are continuing to experience something of a defensive injury crisis at the moment, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Sergio Reguilon all missing last weekend's win over Brentford. Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans started at centre-back.

In an attempt to try and ease their defensive injury woes, United will aim to strengthen across the back line next summer, not least at centre-back. Varane struggles to maintain regular fitness, and Martinez is now facing a second lengthy spell on the sidelines this year.

Guehi, 23, is considered one of the most exciting and promising centre-backs in the Premier League, making no shortage of progress since joining Palace from Chelsea in 2021. Both quick and physical, the former Swansea City loanee ticks a range of boxes.

Under contract at Selhurst Park until 2026, Guehi, who will be hoping to become a regular for England ahead of next summer's European Championship in Germany, joined Palace for a reported fee of £18million.
