Manchester United player ratings vs Liverpool as Raphael Varane and Andre Onana good

Manchester United drew with fierce rivals Liverpool in the Premier League fixture at Anfield.

Liverpool dominated the first half but United managed to contain their opponents, with Andre Onana saving a decent chance from Virgil van Dijk. Kobbie Mainoo and Sofyan Amrabat were booked, while fellow midfielder Scott McTominay captained the side.

Neither manager made any half-time substitutions. Trent Alexander-Arnold went close for Liverpool with a powerful shot and Rasmus Hojlund squandered a chance shortly after.

United brought on Marcus Rashford, Facundo Pellistri and Hannibal Mejbri but none of them could make the difference and the match ended 0-0. Our chief United writer Samuel Luckhurst was at the game and here are his player ratings.

Luke Shaw

Defended well against Mohamed Salah but had little joy going forward despite endeavouring to supplement attacks. 7

Kobbie Mainoo

Started as confidently as
