Manchester United midfielder Hannibal set for Sevilla loan with option of permanent transfer

Hannibal Mejbri is set to join Sevilla on loan for the remainder of the season and could join the club permanently in the summer window.

Manchester United have agreed to allow the young midfielder to join the La Liga side on a temporary deal, with the option to make it a full transfer at the end of the campaign. The Manchester Evening News understands Sevilla have the option to sign Hannibal for €20million and that the proposed sale would not include a buyback clause for the club should they wish to bring him back to Old Trafford in the future.

It was revealed last week that Hannibal preferred the opportunity to play for Sevilla over Premier League side Everton as he goes in search of regular playing time for the remainder of the campaign.

PLAYER RATINGS: Hojlund good and Eriksen poor vs Tottenham

MATCH REACTION: Sir Jim proved wrong by United vs Spurs

He emerged from the bench against Wigan on Monday night but last lined up from the start against Galatasaray in early October.

Last week, Erik ten Hag confirmed the club had extended the contracts of Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Hannibal. The trio were approaching the final six months of their deals but United triggered the one-year option in each contract to tie all of them to the club until 2025.

United were still interested in discussing the possibility of a new long-term contract with Hannibal but the player wanted firmer assurances about his future role before doing so.

Hannibal has made 13 competitive appearances for the United first team and netted his first goal for the club in a defeat to Brighton earlier in the season. He was not involved in the draw with Tottenham on Sunday.
