Manchester United make decision on David de Gea role vs Wolves

Erik ten Hag has not given any consideration to dropping Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.

De Gea has committed two high-profile errors in recent weeks in the Europa League defeat at Sevilla and last week's Premier League loss to West Ham.

The 32-year-old is approaching the final weeks of his existing contract but is expected to sign a renewal with United on a reduced salary.

Although De Gea is set to stay at United beyond this season, the Manchester Evening News revealed this week there is growing uncertainty over his No.1 status next term.

However, Ten Hag confirmed De Gea - who has started in all 34 league games this season - will line up for the visit of Wolves on Saturday.

"No, I don't give considerations," Ten Hag said. "He will definitely play.

"As a top football player, you have such circumstances and you have to deal with it. Every top football player [has] a high demand. You have to accept it, deal with it and the demand is you have to perform.

"Is [his contract situation] a reason? No, I don't think that's a reason because David is so experienced. That is not a reason. I can think about a thousand and one reasons but I don't think that's the reason."

Ten Hag clarified he sees Amad's future back at United once his season-long loan with Sunderland has ended and Hannibal Mejbri, Alvaro Fernandez and Ethan Laird are due to return from loans with Championship clubs.

United must also decide on Dean Henderson's future now his season-long loan with Nottingham Forest has ended due to surgery on a thigh problem. Henderson, 26, has not played since January 21 and could be sidelined for another three months.
