Manchester United made four changes to line-up vs Crystal Palace to concern Gary Neville

Gary Neville said he was not surprised to see Manchester United lose to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, and even suggested the changes made to the team that beat the same opponents in the Carabao Cup last week were a factor.

United restored a number of players to the line-up for the Premier League game, with Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Victor Lindelof and Rasmus Hojlund replacing Hannibal Mejbri, Alejandro Garnacho, Harry Maguire and Anthony Martial.

After enjoying Tuesday's win over Palace in the cup, Neville said that prior to the league match he felt as though United would "bring a few players back and be back to normal again".

The Reds' former captain did not watch United's defeat this weekend due to his punditry obligations with Sky Sports. However, he explained to the broadcaster on his podcast why it was not a shock to see his club slip to their fourth loss of the campaign.

"I wasn't expecting to like it [the game vs Palace in the Carabao Cup] because of what I have seen this season," Neville admitted, "and I really enjoyed it.

"I enjoyed the performance from United; Hannibal, [Facundo] Pellistri, [Alejandro] Garnacho played. [Sofyan] Amrabat in midfield with Casemiro looked like it was something but there was real energy, sprinting back from the wide players, the back players played really well and I thought: 'That is a likeable performance, that is something I can live with.'
