Manchester United 'leading race' for World Cup star Goncalo Ramos and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly favourites to sign Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos this summer.

Erik ten Hag is said to be prioritising a new centre-forward once the summer transfer window opens. The Manchester Evening News understands that Tottenham's Harry Kane is his top target, although Napoli's Victor Osimhen, Ajax's Mohammed Kudus, Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund and Frankfurt's Randal Kolo Muani are also thought to be under consideration.

As is Benfica's Goncalo Ramos - the Portuguese front man who has scored 26 goals this season. He announced himself with a hat-trick in the World Cup, against Switzerland.

And with a striker a priority for United in the upcoming transfer window, Portuguese news outlet Record reports that the Old Trafford outfit are at the front of the queue. It is claimed, however, that 'many sides' in England are interested in snapping up Ramos - who is contracted until 2026.

The Portuguese striker, 21, has excelled this season scoring 26 goals and assisting 12 more in 45 appearances in all competitions . Ramos' form has seen him attract interest from all over Europe with his hat-trick against Switzerland during the World Cup pushing him to prominence.

Elsewhere on the rumour mill, Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone is reportedly a summer target for United. The Frenchman made the move to Germany in January 2021 and has since broken into the French Under-21 team.

He is under contract until 2025 with the German outfit and has also been linked with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain.
