Manchester United might only have one option to rival Erling Haaland next season

Manchester United fans will have taken great pleasure at the sight of Leeds being relegated from the Premier League last weekend, and it could taste even sweeter if the man who orchestrated their final-day defeat ends up playing for them next season as well.

If there were any doubters of Harry Kane's suitability for the United side, then his last performance was the perfect showcase of exactly what he could bring to the side this summer.

Kane is not only one of the best strikers in the Premier League, but he is also one of the best creators. He, quite frankly, has everything that this United side needs and is viewed as the possible missing piece of the jigsaw to fuel genuine title ambitions.

It is also not far-fetched to say that Kane's 30 league goals this season are far more impressive than the 36 that Erling Haaland scored for Manchester City, given the struggles at Tottenham and the lack of service he has to contend with.

Next season, that will be the challenge. If United have any hopes of winning the title, then they must aim to be better than City and will need a striker that can rival the outrageous output of Haaland.

There doesn't appear to be anyone in world football right now who is a safer bet to be doing that than Kane, especially given the fact he is already proven in the Premier League.

"It is part and parcel of being a footballer [speculation about leaving] especially when you are at the top of your game," the Tottenham striker told BT Sport after the win over Leeds. "I have focused on this season and helping the team as much as possible. I am just looking forward to a nice break and some games with England."
