Manchester United 'handed Harry Kane boost' and more transfer rumours

Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Harry Kane with Bayern Munich reportedly turning their attentions to Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins.

MEN Sport understands United want to sign Kane this summer, with the England international the top target for Erik ten Hag. The Old Trafford chief has told the club that a striker should be the priority this summer, though Spurs are said to be holding out for a mammoth £100million.

Chelsea and Bayern have also been linked with Kane, but the Mirror claim the German giants are eyeing a move for Villa frontman Watkins. Bayern sent scouts to watch Watkins recently at Villa Park, with him having netted 15 goals in all competitions this campaign.

Elsewhere, the Daily Mail claim Harry Maguire is said to be considering his future at Old Trafford. The 30-year-old reportedly fears that he could lose his England place at Euro 2024, but would like to stay and fight for his place at United.

Maguire has fallen down the pecking order this season, making just 13 top-flight appearances. Should Maguire move on this summer, Ten Hag may be tempted to restock his centre-back options.

Ajax ace Jurrien Timber was the Dutchman's top defensive target last summer before Lisandro Martinez arrived at Old Trafford. The Reds have also been credited with an interest in Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo.
