What Harry Kane told Peter Crouch privately when asked about his future amid Man United interest

Peter Crouch feels Manchester United is the only feasible Premier League destination for Harry Kane if he leaves Tottenham this summer.

Speculation around the England captain continues to swirl, with Erik ten Hag looking to sign a first-choice striker this summer. Kane is still under contract at Spurs, but an exit has never felt as likely as in the next transfer window. Tottenham have endured a disappointing campaign, with no trophy won or top-four finish secured.

Ex-Spurs frontman Crouch, speaking on BT Sport's coverage ahead of Tottenham's home clash with Brentford, gave his outlook on where Kane goes from here. And having spoken with the player himself, Crouch can understand the uncertainty surrounding Tottenham's star man.

"I did ask him the question and he was very diplomatic in his answer," said Kane. "I don’t think even he knows. He might have ambitions to go somewhere else and potentially win a trophy, but it’s not just down to him.

"He still has a year left. There’s a man at the club that doesn’t want to lose his star player and what would it mean to these fans to lose a player of Kane’s calibre? Where can he go? Manchester City is sewn up now.

"Manchester United is the only real option I can see. You can’t go to Chelsea. You can’t go to Arsenal. Newcastle is potentially an option, but I still feel that’s a sideways move. Newcastle (have) got great potential but I feel like he might as well stay at Tottenham."

Fellow pundit and ex-United defender Rio Ferdinand is certain that Old Trafford is the right place for Kane to continue his career as he approaches 30 years of age.

"Man United," said Ferdinand, when asked where Kane should head.
