Manchester United have been down this path more than once before in recent times. On occasions it has worked out for them and they have got their man, but they've not always been so lucky.

Being a centre-forward at United is a position in world football that undoubtedly attracts the spotlight. From Eric Cantona to Ruud van Nistelrooy, Denis Law to Wayne Rooney, legendary figures can be created at the Theatre of Dreams.

It is a key area to fill for United this summer, no doubt about that. Erik ten Hag has already confirmed as much and the need to strengthen is clear, following the November departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and the January loan signing of Wout Weghorst not bringing an avalanche of goals.
