Manchester United great David Beckham has Sir Alex Ferguson plan at Inter Miami

David Beckham hopes to emulate the stability he enjoyed as a player at Manchester United now he owns Inter Miami.

Former United star Beckham founded the MLS team in 2018, hoping to increase the profile of football in the United States after initially joining La Galaxy as a player in 2007. They played their first competitive game in 2020 and have been in the top division for three years.

This summer, Beckham achieved a major goal by bringing Lionel Messi to the MLS, with the serial Ballon D'Or winner enjoying a brilliant start to life in the US with three goals in two games. However Miami are still bottom of the Eastern Conference after playing 22 games, and former manager Phil Neville was sacked last month.

It was a tough decision for Beckham, who shared a pitch with Neville at United, but the 48-year-old hopes to bring stability to his side and cited his former club as inspiration.

“I’m not embarrassed because we’ve come a long way and I’ve realised things of value can take time to build,” Beckham told the Athletic. “But I want to be better, I don’t want to look at the league table and always think, ‘Are we going to win tonight?’.

"Because I spend most of my time in London, I’m sat up at 2am watching the games and when we lose it’s frustrating. I don’t enjoy being bottom of the league, I want better results, but I do also understand that there needs to be a certain amount of patience.
