Manchester United fans hail Michael Carrick as former captain spotted in Everton away end

Manchester United fans loved the fact that former midfielder Michael Carrick watched the win against Everton from the away end at Goodison Park.

Erik ten Hag's men secured an important victory over the Toffees on Sunday night, with the away side coming from behind to win 2-1 in the Premier League clash. Everton took the lead in the fifth minute through Alex Iwobi, but United responded well and levelled proceedings 10 minutes later thanks to Antony's well-worked goal.

Cristiano Ronaldo came off the bench in the first-half to replace injured forward Anthony Martial, and the Portuguese striker grabbed the winner just before the half-time break with his 700th club goal of his career. It was the 37-year-old's second goal of the season so far.

Despite the unusual kick-off time, United fans descended onto Merseyside in their numbers and were in fine voice during the win.

Rather than watch the game on TV, or from a corporate box, former Reds midfielder Carrick opted to take in the Premier League clash with the United supporters at Goodison Park - which went down well with the United faithful.

The Reds return to Europa League action on Thursday night when they face off against Omonia Nicosia once again - with Ten Hag's men having secured a 3-2 victory over the Cypriot outfit last week.
