Manchester United dealt Harry Kane blow as surprise David de Gea option emerges

Daniel Levy has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur have a buy-back clause for Harry Kane.

Manchester United were understood to be monitoring the England captain before his big-money switch to Bayern Munich. An unwillingness from Spurs to sell to another Premier League club proved an obstacle in any deal and the 30-year-old made the Bundesliga switch.

Kane ironically bagged his first Champions League goal for Bayern against United in midweek but Erik ten Hag’s alternative option, Rasmus Hojlund, also got off the mark. Speaking to Bloomberg, Spurs chief Levy revealed future attempts from the Red Devils to sign Kane could be derailed.

“If I’m honest, I think you know, the precise details of the contract with Bayern Munich should remain confidential,” he said. “All I would say is if Harry one day wants to come back to the Premier League and he wants to come to Tottenham, we would have the ability to purchase him.”

In other news, The Guardian are reporting David de Gea could hang up his gloves rather than find a new club. The Spaniard has been a free agent since his United contract expired in July.

At just 32, De Gea has received offers from Saudi Arabia but wants to be a first-choice option at a major European club. A new United deal appeared to have been agreed earlier this year until a last-minute U-turn.
