Manchester United could risk wrath of Dean Henderson after latest transfer domino

Dean Henderson will be fearful of history repeating itself after Tom Heaton's injury at Manchester United.

The former Burnley goalkeeper has suffered a calf injury in training and will miss the Premier League opener against Wolves. Heaton could be out for a number of weeks with the issue.

Andre Onana will be in goal at Old Trafford but with Heaton unavailable as deputy, that could put the breaks on Henderson's move to Nottingham Forest. The English goalkeeper is still recovering from a thigh injury but was expected to rejoin the club he spent last season with.

Now, that move could be in jeopardy with Heaton out injured. Erik ten Hag wanted to recall Henderson in the January transfer window but Henderson made it clear he wanted to stay.

Last summer, the 26-year-old was very vocal about his determination to leave United and get regular football. With Onana undisputed as the number one, it's hard to imagine Henderson will be keen to stick around.

"It was all planned out. I was almost gone before the manager came through the door and I haven't spoken to him since," he told talkSPORT last summer. "To be honest with you, it's probably been the toughest 12 months of my career. It's been tough, it's been hard and I'm so happy I've got out the other end of it. I'm so excited to be here and ready to go.
