Three ways Manchester United could line-up following Mason Mount injury setback

Manchester United will be without Mason Mount until after the September international break after the England midfielder picked up a minor injury against Tottenham.

Mount, 24, arrived at Old Trafford for £60million from Chelsea during the summer transfer window as the primary target for Erik ten Hag in his ongoing rebuild. He has started both Premier League matches during the 2023/2024 campaign so far.

However, with games against Nottingham Forest and Arsenal around the corner, Ten Hag will now be forced into making at least one change. Here are three options for the Dutchman to consider as his United team aim to get back to winning ways.

Perhaps the most obvious and likely is to bring in Christian Eriksen in essentially a straight swap. This was pretty much the 'Plan A' for United last season. Eriksen proved to be an absolute bargain for the club after he signed on a free transfer, starting 25 times in the Premier League alone.

His impact diminished after his mid-season ankle injury but the Dane's undoubted quality in possession, calming presence and creative influence made him the perfect dancing partner for Brazilian powerhouse Casemiro. Surely the best bet?
