Manchester United confirm first-team exit as Erik ten Hag loses coaching staff member

Manchester United first-team coach Eric Ramsay has been appointed as the new manager of MLS side, Minnesota United.

The Manchester Evening News last week reported Ramsay had agreed a move to America and this deal has now been finalised between the two clubs, resulting in the 32-year-old leaving the Red Devils after Sunday's derby with Manchester City.

In accepting this opportunity, Ramsay has become the youngest-ever head coach in MLS history and will be eager to enjoy a successful first season with his new employers.

Minnesota were the latest club to show an interest in hiring the highly-rated coach as a manager after Ramsay was also considered for the Swansea City job last month. A year ago, Blackpool also made an attempt to appoint Ramsay as their new manager, but Erik ten Hag showed a desire for him to stay and played a pivotal role in his decision to turn it down.

Prior to this, the UEFA Pro License holder previously spent nearly four years as a lead professional development phase coach at Swansea at the very start of his career before joining Shrewsbury Town as academy manager. He then moved to Chelsea's academy before heading to Old Trafford in 2021, initially working as a set-piece coach under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
