Manchester United and Man City should both have the same goalkeeper on their transfer wishlists

As the transfer window shuts, recruitment teams now turn their attention to gathering targets for the summer of 2023.

Despite being in different stages of progression, Manchester United and Man City will both be looking to secure world-class players to raise the standards of their side. United will be looking to acquire quality talents in line with Erik ten Hag’s philosophy while Manchester City may be looking for that final piece to finally get their hands on the elusive Champions League trophy.

That one man could be A.C Milan and France goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

If you haven’t heard about Mike Maignan by now, then you will definitely be hearing a lot of talk about him in the near future. The 27-year-old A.C Milan goalkeeper is still yet to hit his prime, but has already shown the ability of a modern world-class goalkeeper. The French international stands at 6’ 3” and maintains an excellent balance of preventing dangerous crosses while also possessing swift footwork that puts him amongst the elite in shot-stopping.

Despite the fact he has only managed to earn four caps for France, this could be largely blamed on manager Didier Deschamps’ loyalty to long-serving, World Cup-winning captain Hugo Lloris. There have been many calls for the Milan man to replace Lloris for the number one spot, however it is clear that Deschamps relies on his trusty set of players with similar situations regarding Adrien Rabiot, Antoine Griezmann and Olivier Giroud.
