Manchester United transfer news LIVE Cody Gakpo latest and Antoine Griezmann updates

Manchester United recruited six players during the summer transfer window and plans are being put in place to continue their rebuild under Erik ten Hag this January.

Despite missing out on priority target Frenkie de Jong, the Old Trafford giants sanctioned moves for Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Antony and Martin Dubravka. The latter was brought in from Newcastle on loan to offset Dean Henderson signing for Premier League newcomers Nottingham Forest.

Malacia, Eriksen and Martinez have quickly become mainstays in the starting XI, while Antony netted on his debut before being handed further minutes in two Europa League outings. Dubravka has yet to make his first appearance, though, as the United stopper continues to nurse a minor injury problem.

United made moves to sign Antoine Griezmann this summer - according to reports.

An ongoing rebuild at Old Trafford has seen United linked with countless attacking players.

However, they eventually settled on Brazil forward Antony from Ajax.

The Athletic credit United with concrete interest in Griezmann, who remains on loan at Atletico Madrid from Barcelona amid ongoing discussions between those clubs over the France international and United could come calling, once again, in January.

United have been handed a boost in their chase to sign PSV starlet Cody Gakpo.

Gakpo, 23, was earmarked as a possible alternative to Antony during the summer transfer window before Erik ten Hag and key figures in the Old Trafford boardroom eventually struck up an agreement with Ajax for the Brazil
