Manchester United and Hannibal Mejbri 'in talks' over new contract and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are in talks with Hannibal Mejbri over a new contract after being impressed by the midfielder in the early weeks of the season, according to reports.

Hannibal made his first appearance of the season in last weekend's 3-1 defeat at home to Brighton and Hove Albion, coming off the bench to net his first senior goal for the club. It is the latest chance taken by the 20-year-old to impress Erik ten Hag, following an encouraging pre-season.

Elsewhere, the Guardian reports that David de Gea 'may retire' if he does not receive an offer to be first-choice at a major European club.

The 32-year-old became a free agent when he was released by United at the start of summer. He has received several offers from Saudi Arabian clubs, all of which have been rejected, and was contacted by Cristiano Ronaldo regarding a potential move to Al Nassr.

He has been keeping fit with individual training in the hope of attracting interest from a club that can still compete for major honours. There was reported interest from Real Betis
