Man City midfielder Rodri sent off after spat with Morgan Gibbs-White vs Nottingham Forest

Manchester City midfielder Rodri was given a straight red card after a spat with Morgan Gibbs-White seconds into the second half vs Nottingham Forest. City were 2-0 up when the sending-off happened.

Rodri was shielding the ball near the corner flag under pressure from Gibbs-White when the two got into a fracas. The Blues' star was pushing Gibbs-White near the throat which let to the Forest man going to ground.

Referee Anthony Taylor consulted VAR before confirming the decision. It means that Rodri will miss the next three Premier League matches, including the crucial fixture against Arsenal.

Former referee Mike Dean, commenting on the incident on Sky Sports, said: "He goes down a bit theatrically, Gibbs-White, but when you see it from another angle when you look he has pushed him in the neck, hence the reason why I think he's sent him off."
