Manchester restaurant forced to change its name makes fresh announcement

A popular pasta restaurant which became embroiled in a social media feud over the use of its name is set to launch a new eatery.

The Manchester restaurant, which was known as Sugo Pasta Kitchen, changed its name to Sud Pasta earlier this year, following a years-old row over the use of the name with Glasgow restaurant called Sugo Pasta.

The two restaurants got into a public social media spat over it in 2019, when customers thinking they were buying online vouchers for the Glasgow restaurant accidentally bought vouchers for the Manchester spot. Sud Pasta Owners - and brothers - Michael and Alex de Martiis confirmed the name change back in February, and today (August 14, 2023), the pair have announced the launch of their first city centre location.

Having gathered a cult following in Greater Manchester over the years, fans of the Southern Italian kitchen will be able to enjoy their dishes inspired by the Southern Italian inside Exhibition, a food-hall style, multi-kitchen concept on Peter Street which opened last year.

Exhibition, a 6,000sqft concept comprising three independent kitchens, two bars, and dedicated exhibition spaces for local artists is situated within the Grade II listed St George’s House and sits on the site of the 1817 Peterloo Massacre, the old Museum of Natural History. It was the place where the body of Hannah Beswick (the Manchester Mummy) was found.
