Manager Josh Wright says his love for Ebbsfleet United exceeds feelings for his previous clubs as he reflects on highs and lows after a year in charge
Ebbsfleet United manager Josh Wright has reiterated his love for the club.
Wright initially joined the Fleet as a player in June 2022 and helped them win the National League South title in record-breaking style during his first season.
An unexpected chance to move into management earlier than he imagined arrived 12 months ago and while Wright has had to endure some tough love, it has only strengthened his fondness of the club and their supporters.
“I’ve loved so much,” reflected Wright on his first year in the hotseat. “There’s been really tough times for me and for everyone associated.
“But you learn quite often in the tough times, you know, not always in the good times. You have to marry both together and keep improving, keep learning. Like everything in life, you learn something new every day and I learn something every day in this job.
“It’s something that I’m thriving off. It’s something that I want to keep pushing in the right direction and keep improving. But I’m really enjoying it and I love the football club.
“I love this football club more than anything I’ve ever loved in terms of the game before, in terms of any other clubs I’ve been at. I’ve been here a long time now and I’ve done a lot with this football club.
“I’ve got so much time for the fans and everyone, all the staff, everyone around the place. All I want to do is be successful, not just for myself, but for the football club, because it deserves it. It’s got good people and long may that continue.
“Results and performances like [winning at Chelmsford on Saturday] will only keep pushing us in the right direction.
“Hopefully that continues and we’ll be in a really good place in ever so many months or whatever it might be from now.”
