Ebbsfleet United 0 Forest Green Rovers 2 match report: FA Trophy fourth round win for Robbie Savage’s side with goals from Isaac Moore and Temi Babalola
Ebbsfleet bowed out of the FA Trophy despite giving higher-league Forest Green a run for their money on Saturday.
The National League visitors scored a goal at the end of each half to progress in the fourth-round tie.
It ended the Fleet’s run in the competition despite an excellent performance from Josh Wright’s side.
Ebbsfleet made four changes from the side that won at Dover in their final game of 2025 with keeper Jonathan Macaulay, Ben Coker, Finlay Barnes and Mustapha Olagunju coming into the line-up.
The visitors dominated possession for the opening five minutes and Max Robson’s header went straight to the hands of Macaulay.
The Fleet soon warmed to the task on another bitterly cold afternoon and the rampaging Ronny Nelson saw his left-wing cross headed over by Dominic Samuel.
Forest Green adopted a high press but it nearly proved their downfall on 16 minutes with the Fleet so close to scoring a goal-of-the-season contender. Penned in on the edge of their own box, Macaulay and Max Ehmer helped bring the ball out via Coker and Josh Coley down the left to send Samuel through on goal. The Fleet striker hit the target but keeper Harry Isted made himself big to divert his shot behind for a corner.
Ebbsfleet nearly caught the visitors napping when Samuel latched on to a throw and crossed early into the box but no-one in a red shirt was on the same wavelength as the Fleet striker.
Coley then fed Barnes as the Fleet won the ball high up but his left-foot shot was deflected away for a corner.
Forest Green had barely threatened as an attacking force but it needed a timely intervention from Olagunju to deny Kairo Mitchell a tap-in from Isaac Moore’s centre.
Ebbsfleet came again with Josh Passley winning the ball and setting up
