Ebbsfleet United manager Josh Wright demands his players build on 2-1 derby win at Dover Athletic in National League South with trips to Bath City and Maidenhead United
Ebbsfleet boss Josh Wright has urged his players to put their “foot on the gas” as they enter the new year.
The Fleet made it three National League South wins in a row for the third time this season by defeating Kent rivals Dover 2-1 at Crabble on Tuesday.
However, they remain outside the play-off places, and Wright knows they need to extend their winning streaks to make up ground on the sides above them.
“We’ve had three spells this season where we’ve been on good runs and had three wins on the bounce,” stated Wright.
“It’s vitally important and I've challenged my staff and my players now that we kick on, we put the foot on the gas if you like and we don't just rest and accept that it's three wins, nine points.
“We go again because really good teams do it properly and continue it and keep going, going and going. They're relentless, that relentless attitude and mindset, ruthless as I always say.
“So that's the challenge now that we kick on from here again and we put more points on the ball to back these points up and hopefully keep climbing the table.”
If Ebbsfleet are to put a prolonged run together they’ll be doing it away from home.
The Fleet travel to Bath on Saturday and Maidenhead on Tuesday, having already won at Dover and Chelmsford either side of Christmas.
Wright’s men dropped points at Slough and Hampton earlier in the season but they seemed to have turned a corner on their travels.
“It's weird isn't it, just because you're in a different location and a slightly different looking place, pitch and atmosphere, it can feel different home to away,” said Wright.
“We have been very strong at home but I wanted us to juggle and balance the away form which we're slowly but surely doing.
