Man Utd great Peter Schmeichel gives verdict on Andre Onana and makes David de Gea admission

Legendary Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has warned Andre Onana that he will be under 'relentless pressure' following his move to Old Trafford.

After it was decided that David de Gea would leave the club following the expiry of his contract at the end of last season, United identified the 27-year-old as their primary target to replace him. The Reds quickly entered negotiations with Inter Milan to sign the Cameroonian and secured his signature just two days before the opening game of their pre-season tour in the United States last month.

Onana, who worked with Reds boss Erik ten Hag at Ajax, has brought an unrivalled skillset to Old Trafford, featuring world-class distribution qualities. Ten Hag is determined to gradually transform United's style of play and that starts by having a goalkeeper who is capable in possession.

Onana is widely regarded as one of the best ball-playing goalkeepers in the business and flashes of what he will bring to the club were evident during pre-season. Schmeichel, who won 15 major honours during his United career, believes the former Inter ace is a 'perfect fit' for the way Ten Hag wants his team to play, but has questioned how he will deal with the pressure that comes with playing for the club.
